Easy 4th of July Makeup

Welcome back!  Thanks so much for stopping by.  Today’s video and post is all about easy 4th of July makeup that is both wearable and subtly patriotic.  Keep reading for the details I couldn’t fit in my voiceover, scroll down for the video tutorial, and keep scrolling for a list of all the products I used in this day-to-night 4th of July makeup look!

I created today’s look using a few new products I had been dying to get my hands on and finally purchased – specifically the NYX Vivid Brights Liquid Liners and the Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops.  I wanted this look to be simple and subtle enough to be worn during the day, but still fun and patriotic for 4th of July.  I also really wanted to find a quick way to transition this look from day to night while still maintaining the simplicity – I usually spend my 4th of July barbecuing or laying by the pool or beach during the day, and then go out after watching the fireworks.  By the time we’re ready to watch the fireworks I have zero patience left to completely redo my makeup, so I blot and powder any oily areas, add a little smokiness to the lower lashline, and trade up to a bold red lip.  These adjustments are super easy but they make such a big difference in giving the look a more glamorous, nighttime vibe.

If you want to make this look even more natural, pat the highlight on underneath your foundation for a more lit-from-within glow, and use a liquid or cream blush instead of a powder one.  If you are using powders, opt for ones with a satin finish, not matte – this will give the most skin-like finish to your look.  As for all-over powder, I skipped this and instead only set my concealer, using whatever was left on my brush to lightly dust over the surrounding areas.  If you get more oily, you’ll probably want to set your entire face with a light dusting of powder, or use a mattifying finishing spray. If you blot throughout the day, you should be able to avoid having to completely redo your base before you go out at night.  Most importantly, remember to layer some SPF under your base!  Sun protection is always sexy 🙂

I hope you enjoy this look and have a fun and safe 4th of July weekend!
