May 2016 Birchbox Unboxing & First Impressions Video:

The theme for this month’s box was “Out of Doors” and all the products in the box were to help keep you looking fresh on your outdoor adventures.  I LOVED the box design – almost as much as both of the previous Rifle Paper Co collabs.  I wasn’t sure what to expect product wise, and while I don’t think anything could top last month’s box, I did like all of the types of products I received this month.  Keep reading below for the reviews!

May 2016 Birchbox Product Reviews

Kopari Coconut Crush Scrub:

I was the most excited about this product because I’ve been seeing this brand in all my favorite YouTubers’ videos!  I LOVE this scrub.  It works best when you use it on dry skin, before showering.  I rinse off the scrub and the use my normal body wash; some coconut oil stays on the skin and moisturizes, which is awesome because I am really bad about moisturizing my whole body after getting out of the shower.  The scent is subtle but really nice (it’s coconut… obvi).

Obliphica Professional Seaberry Serum (medium to coarse):

I had no idea what to expect from this product; it seemed kind of like a hair mask/treatment and kind of like a styling product.  After using it a few times, I think it’s both.  The serum has almost a loose gel-like consistency and feels hydrating without being oily.  It smoothed my frizz instantly and made my poor dead ends look way healthier.  I’ve been using this every day since I got it and will be buying the full size once the sample runs out!

Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner:

I’ve sampled this a few times in the past and never purchased a full size.  The felt tip is easy to work with but I find that it dries out pretty quickly even when I store it upside down.  The formula easily removes with water (a good and bad thing), but I find that I have other liners that are blacker than this one.

The Body Shop Oils of Life Intensely Revitalizing Facial Oil:

I’m not too sure about this one.  The ingredients list is great, but I didn’t notice a big difference in my skin after using this instead of my usual night oil.  I like that this oil is dry, so it doesn’t leave any tackiness or greasy feeling on the skin, but I still needed to layer another moisturizer on top of it to hydrate my skin.  I doubt I’ll buy this one, especially since I have so many facial oil samples to try out right now.

COOLA SPF 50 Sport – Mango:

The formula is super lightweight, which I absolutely love, and the scent reminds me of summer.  I was happy to get a new SFP 50 to try (I don’t wear lower than that) because I have been using the same Neutrogena one for years and don’t like how hard I have to work to get it to absorb.  The COOLA formula is easy to apply, absorbs quickly, and feels very hydrating.  It does leave a little bit of stickiness (like the feeling of having just applied lotion) but it’s much less than most sunscreens I have tried.  The scent is amazing, and it fades quickly (something I prefer in scented products that are not perfume).

Let me know in the comments below what you got in your Birchbox this month!
