Welcome back!  Today’s look is another Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Tutorial, this time using the browns and oranges from the palette.  I wanted to create a soft, blown out look that could be worn day or night, and would subtly make the eyes pop.  I filmed the evening version of this look, which I created by layering Cypress Umber (a rich, matte, chocolatey brown) all over the lid.  I went over top of Cypress Umber with Antique Bronze (a purple toned brown shimmer) to add dimension, and smoked out the lower lashline using a brown eyeliner and the orange shades from the palette.

To make this look more subtle, apply Antique Bronze directly to the lid, and don’t apply the brown eyeliner to the waterline.  Obviously, skip the lashes or use a more natural set – just be sure to pick a pair that has a rounded shape to match the shape of the eyeshadow.  A flared/cat eye shaped lash doesn’t work well for this look since it competes with the shape of the shadow.

If you’re interested in seeing another Modern Renaissance Tutorial, or a mini review on the palette, check out my plum smokey eye post from a few weeks ago.  I love how this look came out, and included my initial thoughts on the palette.

I am still loving this palette – it’s actually the only one I brought on vacation with me!  I have been able to create a great mix of natural and dramatic looks, and have yet to feel bored with my options.  I haven’t once wished I had packed another palette.  If you’re able to purchase it, I HIGHLY recommend the Modern Renaissance palette. I hope you enjoy this look and are able to recreate it!
